To whatever your room needs once it has been measured properly, so we look before we price. Floor area sets the base and the layout decides the next part, because leaving the bath, basin and toilet on the existing pipe runs is lighter work than shifting the waste across the room. A narrow bathroom in a Dunterlie terrace is a different job from a wide one in an Arthurlie villa with a freestanding bath and a walk-in shower. Suite, screen and wall finishes take it on from there, along with anything tired the strip-out reveals. The visit and the quote cost nothing and oblige you to nothing, and finance runs from £22 a week, subject to status.
It is nearly always 3 to 6 days. Before the old suite is touched you are told what happens on each day, and the fitters work through it in that order. Where the house has a single toilet, the sequence is arranged so it is back on every evening.
Inside your own flat, yes, and the four-in-a-block flats around Auchenback and Springhill are regular work for us. The close and the stair are sheeted before anything comes in, the old suite goes straight out to the van, and the steps are swept at the end of each shift. The designer also checks the turn on the stair, because it decides the largest bath or tray that will physically reach the room.
It changes the method rather than the plan. Rather than chase pipes and cables into solid stone, the services run in slim boxing or behind a lined wall, and a core drill is used where an extractor has to vent outside. Lining that wall with insulated board is a good moment to take the chill off a room in an older Arthurlie or town centre house.
Yes, and it is a familiar complaint in a town that catches the weather coming off the Fereneze Braes. With the room stripped, the outside wall can be lined and insulated, old pipework running through it renewed, an electric floor mat or a heated towel rail added, and a humidity-sensing extractor fitted so steam clears instead of settling.
Somewhere agreed at the survey rather than on the morning. Several of the older streets are tight and some of the flats have parking courts instead of driveways, so the designer works out where the van sits, materials arrive in one drop, and the shared paths and back courts are kept clear. Waste and packaging leave with us.
The measurement decides that. Houses still heating water in a cylinder fed from a loft tank give a gentle flow, which a pump or a low-pressure valve will lift, while a combi has you on the mains and takes a wide head without complaint. Flow and pressure are tested at the design visit and the shower is specified around the reading.
Not far at all. The Glasgow showroom is inside Dobbies Garden Centre, 75 Kings Inch Drive, Renfrew, G51 4FB, at Braehead, with full bathrooms built up and a free car park. It is open daily between 10am and 5pm, and Kilmarnock is the second showroom, open Monday to Saturday with Sunday by appointment. If you would rather not go anywhere, the designer brings the boards, tiles and tap finishes to your G78 house.
