Ultimate Home Solutions fits en suites and shower rooms across Glasgow, Edinburgh, Lanarkshire, Ayrshire and the rest of Scotland. Most of what we do is a refit: the room already exists, the waste pipe and the fan are already there, and what you want is a shower that actually works and a room that looks new again. That is the predictable job, and it usually lands at £3,500 to £5,500 fitted.
Adding an ensuite to a bedroom or a box room is a different piece of work. The waste has to reach the soil pipe, the hot water has to stretch to a second shower, the fan has to get to an outside wall, and a stud wall, a door and the lighting all go in before a single bathroom fitting does. It can nearly always be done. What it costs depends on your house, which is why we look at the room before anyone talks about money. Our guide to what an en suite bathroom costs in Glasgow sets out the figures, and the shower room cost guide covers the same ground for a main shower room.
An en suite is a small room with a lot going on in it. These are the six things we look at first, because between them they set the layout and most of the cost.
The toilet has to reach the soil pipe that serves the house. The further the room sits from it, the more floor has to come up to get there.
Drainage firstA combi or a pressurised cylinder usually copes fine. An older tank-fed system may want a pump, or an electric shower instead.
Pressure checkedEn suites suffer from damp more than any room in the house. The fan is sized for the room and ducted to outside air, never into the loft.
Ducted outsidePanels go up fast and have no grout lines to turn black. Tiling takes longer and costs more in labour. Plenty of people still prefer it.
Panels or tilesShort toilets, slim basins and wall-hung units sit closer to the wall and hand back the floor space you were short of.
Space savedSliding doors, bi-folds and fixed walk-in screens never swing out, so the basin and the toilet can sit that bit closer in.
Sliding or fixedA designer measures the room and works out where the waste and the fan can go, so the figure you get is based on your house and not a rough average.
We work out the layout with you at home, around the door swing, the window and the spot you actually want the basin to sit.
Plumbing, electrics, panelling, flooring and the clear up are all arranged by us. You are not left ringing round trades yourself.
Vetted installers who fit bathrooms for a living. Dust sheets go down, and the house is left clean at the end of every day.
More than 300 reviews from Scottish homeowners, the glowing ones and the occasional grumble, all left up for you to read.
Finance from £22 a week, subject to status. The first eligibility check is a soft search, so it leaves no mark on your credit file.
A designer comes out, looks at the room, checks the drainage and the water pressure, and listens to what you want out of it.
You get the layout for the room and what it would cost. Move things around as much as you like before you decide anything.
Out with the old room, in with the new. An en suite refit normally sits at the shorter end, and your main bathroom stays in use.
We go round the finished room with you, put right anything that needs it and leave you the care notes. All workmanship guaranteed.

Ask a designer rather than a chatbot. Someone who fits these rooms for a living will come back to you, seven days a week.
Call 0800 029 3875Refitting an en suite that is already there typically costs £3,500 to £5,500 fitted, the same band as a shower room. Swapping the shower enclosure on its own and leaving the rest of the room alone is around £1,200 to £2,200. Turning an en suite into a level-access shower room starts around £5,500. A brand new en suite where there was none is priced once we have seen the house, because the drainage run and the building work decide it. For comparison, a full family bathroom in Glasgow typically lands between £5,500 and £8,000 fitted. There is more detail in our en suite cost guide.
Not every time. Three things decide it: whether the toilet and shower waste can reach the soil pipe, whether the hot water system can supply a second shower, and whether a fan can be ducted to outside air. A survey answers all three before you spend anything.
Less than most people expect, but the answer comes from measuring rather than a rule of thumb. What matters is room to stand in the shower, room to dry off outside it, and a door that opens without hitting the basin. A short toilet, a slim basin and a sliding or fixed screen buy back the inches that make a tight room work. A designer measures up and tells you honestly what will fit.
It depends on your hot water. A combi boiler or a pressurised cylinder normally gives a good shower upstairs without help. An older tank-fed system sometimes needs a pump, or an electric shower instead. We check the pressure at the survey rather than guessing.
No, but it does need a proper extractor fan. Plenty of en suites are internal rooms with no window at all, so the extractor fan is the only way the steam gets out. It has to be sized for the room and ducted to the outside air. En suites suffer from damp more than any other room in the house, and a weak fan is usually the reason.
Panels are quicker to fit, have no grout lines to go black and wipe clean in seconds, which suits a small room that steams up fast. Tiling takes longer and costs more in labour, and some people simply prefer the look. You can see both side by side at the showroom, and our modern bathrooms page shows the clean, simple finishes that tend to suit a small room best.
We fit bathrooms in 3 to 6 days, and a straightforward en suite refit usually sits at the shorter end. The main bathroom stays in use the whole time, so nobody in the house is left without a shower or a toilet. If a new room has to be built and drainage run first, that work happens before the bathroom fit and adds to the overall time.
