A large room in a stone villa where a freestanding bath goes in, a walk-in shower is built and the waste has to be rerouted is much higher, and lifting an old floor can add to it once we see what is beneath. Three to six days across almost every job here, taken from the morning the old suite leaves. A like-for-like replacement in one of the newer houses is finished at the short end of that. Moving pipework, taking up a floor in a stone-built property or running new wiring pushes it towards six. You get the plan for every day before the first tile moves, and any second toilet in the house is kept in service.
It can, and it usually costs less than people fear. The big bathrooms in the older Peebles villas have high ceilings, solid walls and a single small radiator that was never going to cope. A properly sized towel radiator, insulation under a new floor and electric underfloor heating beneath tile or vinyl change the room completely. The designer works out what the room needs while they are measuring it, rather than leaving you to guess.
Usually, with a bit of notice. A fitting window of three to six days will slot between changeovers if we agree the dates early, and the running order is set so the room is finished and cleaned rather than left part-done.
