Wall panels leave no grout for mould to sit in, an insulated backing board takes the chill out of the wall, and a properly sized extractor with an overrun is fitted and vented correctly rather than left to trickle.
Two things mainly. The older terraces around the town centre and the waterfront have solid walls and timber floors that have often settled, so the floor is brought level before a tray or a level shower goes down, and pipework runs in boxing where cutting into the wall is not sensible. Access is the other one: the designer notes the stair and the door widths on the visit so nothing turns up that cannot get in.
Yes, and it is asked for constantly, particularly in bungalows around Ochtrelure and in the cottages along the Rhins. Out comes the bath, in goes either a low tray or a floor laid to fall, with a glass screen, and rails or a folding seat can be added whenever you want them. The drainage run is checked before anything is settled.
The flow is measured while the designer is with you. Many older Stranraer homes still heat water in a cylinder from a loft tank, which is gentle at best on a large head, while houses with a combi or an unvented cylinder normally have plenty to give. Where the pressure is low the options are a pump, a change of cylinder or a shower built for that supply, and each is explained before you decide.
