Ultimate Home Solutions supplies and fits new conservatory roofs across Cumbernauld, from a free survey at your own back door through to the finished plastered ceiling. The town runs along a ridge north-east of Glasgow and the weather tends to arrive here before anywhere else, which is hard on a roof made of thin plastic sheets. Behind the houses of Seafar, Carbrain, Abronhill and Condorrat, and on the newer estates out at Westfield, Carrickstone and Craigmarloch, that leaves a room too hot to sit in for three weeks of the year and too cold for the other forty-nine. We change the roof, not the conservatory, and all workmanship is guaranteed.
Up on this ridge the wind and the rain usually settle the argument, which is why most households here end up on a tiled or solid roof: it kills the noise, holds the heat and turns the conservatory into a room the family uses in February. Where the conservatory feeds daylight into a kitchen or dining room behind it, though, taking all the glass away is a mistake, and solar-control glazing or a hybrid roof with a lantern is the better answer. All four are compared at the survey.
[ Lightweight tiled roof ]A fully insulated, tiled roof that looks like a proper extension from outside and feels like one inside. The warmest, quietest option, with no more drumming rain noise, and built to last 50 years or more. The best choice if you want to use the room all year.
[ Solid insulated roof ]Like the tiled option but finished inside with a plastered ceiling and downlights, so it reads as a normal room, not a conservatory. Ready to decorate to match the rest of the house.
[ Glass roof ]Keeps the room bright and open while fixing the temperature, using modern self-cleaning, solar-control glass. The right pick if losing the light is your main worry.
[ Hybrid roof ]A solid, insulated roof with glazed panels or a roof lantern set into it. You get the warmth and the quiet, plus a shaft of daylight where you want it. The best of both.
[ Warm in winter, cool in summer ]Every system is fully insulated to modern U-values, so the room holds its heat in January and stays comfortable in July. No more dripping condensation or a room you only use three months a year.
[ Signed off and certified ]We check your existing frame and base will take the new roof, handle the building control sign-off where needed, and give you the certificate for your records. Nothing left for you to chase later.

What households in G67 and G68 raise before they commit: summer heat, winter cold, the racket in a downpour, warrants with North Lanarkshire, older frames, how long it takes and paying by the month.
Phone the freephone number and you will get a person who works on conservatory roofs, not a switchboard. We try to answer or return every call within the hour, seven days a week.
Call 0800 029 3875Every district in G67 and G68, which means Abronhill, Condorrat, Kildrum, Seafar, Carbrain, Greenfaulds, Ravenswood, Smithstone, Westfield, Eastfield, Balloch, Craigmarloch, Carrickstone, Westerwood, Dullatur, Blackwood, Cumbernauld Village and Luggiebank. Castlecary, Croy, Kilsyth, Moodiesburn, Mollinsburn and Banknock are on the same round, and none of them carries a call-out fee.
The usual range is £6,500 to £14,000 fitted, which takes in removing the existing roof, any strengthening required, the new system, a plasterboard ceiling, LED lighting and decoration. A wide lean-to or a large Edwardian can pass £18,000. Nothing is charged for the survey and the quote is free to keep, with no obligation. Various deposit options are available.
It can. Insulation is what deals with both problems at once: it stops the sun loading heat into the room through the summer and stops the warmth escaping through the winter, so the room holds a steadier temperature all year. A solid insulated roof reaches a U-value below 0.18 W/m²K, which is the standard a modern extension roof is built to. Add a radiator and the room becomes somewhere you sit in January.
It does. What you are hearing now is rain hitting thin polycarbonate with nothing behind it. A tiled or solid roof is built in layers, insulation and then a plasterboard ceiling, and the sound is absorbed on the way through instead of being amplified. Given how much rain this ridge catches, it is the change most households notice first.
Not in most cases, because the light is still coming in through the glazed walls and the doors. Where a conservatory is the only daylight reaching a kitchen or a dining room behind it, we would suggest a hybrid roof with a lantern or a run of glazed panels set into the solid deck, or a full glass roof in solar-control glass. The surveyor will stand in the room at different times of day and tell you what to expect.
A warrant is normally required in Scotland when a glazed conservatory roof becomes a solid one, and you do not have to deal with it. We prepare the application, lodge it with North Lanarkshire Council and hand you the completion certificate at the end. Planning permission is seldom needed for a like-for-like glazed replacement.
Very often, yes. Our tiled and solid roofs are made deliberately light so that an existing frame and base can carry them, and about nine in ten conservatories need no structural work whatsoever. The surveyor checks the loading and the condition of the base at the visit. If a post or a beam needs strengthening, you are told on the day and the cost is in the quote, and if the structure is not suitable at all we will say so rather than press on.
Allow 3 to 7 working days on site for most conservatories. Counting back from that, the gap between accepting the quote and the installers arriving is usually 4 to 6 weeks, because the roof is made to your measurements. Whatever the weather does overnight, the room is closed up and watertight before the team leaves.

Yes. Our Glasgow showroom sits inside Dobbies Garden Centre at Braehead, 75 Kings Inch Drive, Renfrew, G51 4FB, open 10am to 5pm every day with parking and a café, and our Kilmarnock showroom at Block 5, Unit 1, Glencairn Industrial Estate, KA1 4AZ opens Monday to Saturday, with Sunday by appointment. The surveyor also carries tile, slate-effect and render samples, which is the better test, because a finish has to be judged next to your own walls.
All workmanship is guaranteed, covering how the roof system, the insulation, the plasterboard ceiling and the electrical work have been installed. Your surveyor will go over what that means in practice while they are with you.
Our surveyors and vetted installers are in North Lanarkshire every week of the year. A survey costs nothing and no call-out fee is added, whether the house is in G67 at Carbrain or G68 up at Westerwood.
