Ultimate Home Solutions supplies and fits new conservatory roofs across Johnstone and the villages beside it. The estates built up the hill at Auchenlodment, Floorshill and Craigenfeoch, and the houses out at Milliken Park and Corseford, took a conservatory as a matter of course, and most of those roofs are the original polycarbonate. Sitting where it does between the Gleniffer ridge and the Clyde Muirshiel hills, the town gets the rain from both, so the room is loud in a downpour, damp with condensation by November and airless the first warm week of the year. We change the roof only, building an insulated tiled, solid, glass or hybrid system onto your frame and base, and finish it with a plastered ceiling and lighting. All workmanship is guaranteed.
Houses on the Johnstone hill catch the wind as well as the rain, and that pushes most households towards a tiled or solid roof: it holds the heat, it kills the noise and it makes the room ordinary. Down on the flat at Elderslie and Linwood, where gardens are more sheltered and the conservatory is often the brightest part of the house, glass with a solar-control coating or a hybrid with a lantern does a better job. All four are set against your own frame at the survey.
[ Lightweight tiled roof ]A fully insulated, tiled roof that looks like a proper extension from outside and feels like one inside. The warmest, quietest option, with no more drumming rain noise, and built to last 50 years or more. The best choice if you want to use the room all year.
[ Solid insulated roof ]Like the tiled option but finished inside with a plastered ceiling and downlights, so it reads as a normal room, not a conservatory. Ready to decorate to match the rest of the house.
[ Glass roof ]Keeps the room bright and open while fixing the temperature, using modern self-cleaning, solar-control glass. The right pick if losing the light is your main worry.
[ Hybrid roof ]A solid, insulated roof with glazed panels or a roof lantern set into it. You get the warmth and the quiet, plus a shaft of daylight where you want it. The best of both.
[ Warm in winter, cool in summer ]Every system is fully insulated to modern U-values, so the room holds its heat in January and stays comfortable in July. No more dripping condensation or a room you only use three months a year.
[ Signed off and certified ]We check your existing frame and base will take the new roof, handle the building control sign-off where needed, and give you the certificate for your records. Nothing left for you to chase later.

The things PA5 households raise before anything is ordered: cost, days on site, the warrant, older nineties frames, rain noise, keeping daylight and paying by the month.
Call and the person on the other end fits conservatory roofs for a living, so you get an answer there and then. Messages are usually returned inside the hour, any day.
Call 0800 029 3875For most houses here the figure comes out between £6,500 and £14,000, fitted. Taking the old roof off, any strengthening the frame calls for, the new system, a plasterboard ceiling, LED lighting and decoration are all inside that. A very large lean-to or an Edwardian roof can pass £18,000. The survey and the quote are both free and neither obliges you to anything. Various deposit options are available.
Nearly always 3 to 7 working days. Most of the calendar goes on making the roof, not fitting it, so from the day you say yes to handover is usually four to six weeks. Whatever stage the work is at, the conservatory is sealed against the weather before the van leaves at night.
We do. Converting a conservatory roof to a solid one normally calls for a building warrant in Scotland, and the application goes to Renfrewshire Council in our name, with the completion certificate handed to you at the end. A like-for-like replacement seldom needs planning permission. Kilbarchan has a conservation area, so if your house is inside it we check before ordering anything.
Probably not. The tiled and solid systems are engineered light enough to sit on the frame and base already there, and around nine in ten conservatories need no structural work at all. The load is calculated on the surveyor's visit. Where a beam or a post does need strengthening it goes into the quote where you can see it, and where a solid roof is simply wrong for the structure we say so and point you at glass or a hybrid.
Then a tiled or solid roof is your answer. The drumming is polycarbonate flexing, and once an insulated deck is over your head it goes entirely. A glass roof is much quieter than what you have now as well, because a sealed glazed unit has weight to it and does not move in the rain.
Not if it is specified properly. You can have rooflights or a glazed lantern set into the insulated deck, which is the hybrid, and daylight still comes down into the room while the warmth and quiet stay. If the light is the whole reason you like the conservatory, a glass roof with solar-control glazing keeps it and fixes the temperature instead.
It should be. An insulated solid roof achieves a U-value below 0.18 W/m²K, which is the standard a modern extension roof is built to, and a conservatory loses most of its heat upwards. With a radiator added, households tell us the room stops being seasonal.
The showroom inside Dobbies Garden Centre at Braehead, 75 Kings Inch Drive, Renfrew, G51 4FB, is open 10am to 5pm seven days and you are welcome to come and talk it over. It is only fair to tell you there is no conservatory roof erected there to walk under. Tile, slate-effect and render samples are brought to your house at the survey, where they can be held against your own walls.
