Ultimate Home Solutions supplies and fits new conservatory roofs across Newton Mearns, and out to Giffnock and Clarkston with it. A conservatory came as standard on a great many of the detached and semi-detached houses built at Crookfur, Greenlaw, Westacres and Maidenhill, and the roof was usually polycarbonate, sometimes early glass. Either way the room is freezing by November and airless in July. We lift that roof off, build a tiled, solid, glass or hybrid one onto the frame and base already standing, then plaster the ceiling and wire in the lights. The survey is free, the quote is clear, and all workmanship is guaranteed.
In Newton Mearns the conservatory is often the room the family actually lives in, which points most people towards a tiled or solid roof and the warmth that comes with it. Where the conservatory wraps a kitchen or a dining room, a glass or hybrid roof keeps the light coming into the back of the house. The surveyor sets the four side by side, against your frame, your budget and the hours you spend in there.
[ Lightweight tiled roof ]A fully insulated, tiled roof that looks like a proper extension from outside and feels like one inside. The warmest, quietest option, with no more drumming rain noise, and built to last 50 years or more. The best choice if you want to use the room all year.
[ Solid insulated roof ]Like the tiled option but finished inside with a plastered ceiling and downlights, so it reads as a normal room, not a conservatory. Ready to decorate to match the rest of the house.
[ Glass roof ]Keeps the room bright and open while fixing the temperature, using modern self-cleaning, solar-control glass. The right pick if losing the light is your main worry.
[ Hybrid roof ]A solid, insulated roof with glazed panels or a roof lantern set into it. You get the warmth and the quiet, plus a shaft of daylight where you want it. The best of both.
[ Warm in winter, cool in summer ]Every system is fully insulated to modern U-values, so the room holds its heat in January and stays comfortable in July. No more dripping condensation or a room you only use three months a year.
[ Signed off and certified ]We check your existing frame and base will take the new roof, handle the building control sign-off where needed, and give you the certificate for your records. Nothing left for you to chase later.

What G77 homeowners ask first: price, days on site, the East Renfrewshire warrant, big lean-to roofs, summer heat, keeping the light and where to meet us.
Ring us and you get someone who talks about conservatory roofs all day, not a switchboard. Most calls are picked up or returned within the hour.
Call 0800 029 3875The usual range is £6,500 to £14,000 fitted, covering the removal of the old roof, any reinforcement, the new roof system, a plasterboard ceiling, LED lighting and decoration. The bigger lean-to and Edwardian conservatories common around here can take it past £18,000. The survey is free, the quote is clear and there is no obligation either way. Various deposit options are available.
Most roofs are on and finished in 3 to 7 working days. It is done in stages and the room is closed up before the fitters leave each day, so nothing is left exposed. A glass roof is usually at the shorter end of that range, a large tiled one at the longer.
It changes the span, not the method. Wide lean-to roofs are common on the houses at Crookfur and Maidenhill, and they tend to be the ones people complain about most, because there is a lot of roof losing heat. The structure is designed for the span at the survey, and any additional support is set out in the quote before you agree to it.
We do. Converting a glazed conservatory roof to a solid one normally needs a building warrant in Scotland, so the application goes in to East Renfrewshire Council on your behalf and you receive the completion certificate once the work is signed off. Planning permission is rarely an issue for a like-for-like replacement, and where a property is listed or in a conservation area we look into it first.
Not built ones, no. Braehead, inside Dobbies Garden Centre at 75 Kings Inch Drive, Renfrew, G51 4FB, displays kitchens and bathrooms and opens 10am to 5pm every day. It is a handy place to meet us, bring pictures of your conservatory on your phone and get the tiled, solid, glass and hybrid options explained without a sales pitch. The samples themselves are brought to your house, because a finish has to be seen beside your own brick or render.
All four are an improvement on what you have. A tiled or solid roof shades the room completely and is insulated throughout, so it is comfortable in August as well as February. If you want to keep the sky, modern solar-control glass reflects a good share of the heat before it gets through, and it is self-cleaning, which saves a lot of ladder work on a two-storey house.
Nine times out of ten, yes. The tiled and solid systems are built light for exactly that reason, and the frame and base you already have will usually carry one with no structural work. The load calculation is worked out on the day of the survey. If strengthening is required it is explained and priced in the quote, and if a solid roof is the wrong answer we will tell you and suggest glass or a hybrid instead.
Most of a conservatory's heat escapes through its roof, so an insulated one changes the room completely. A solid roof gets the U-value below 0.18 W/m²K, which is the standard a modern extension roof is built to. Add a radiator and the room holds its temperature instead of pouring it into the sky.
