It does. Thin polycarbonate sheet rattles under every drop, which is why the noise carries into the kitchen. A tiled or solid insulated roof is the quietest of the four and the drumming simply stops. Glass is far calmer than polycarbonate too, because a glazed unit is heavy and does not flex.
It would if the roof were solid right across, which is why we would not suggest that here. A hybrid roof is insulated throughout with a lantern or glazed panels set in above the doorway, so the light still reaches the kitchen. A glass roof with solar-control glazing is the other route and keeps the room as bright as it is now.
You can come and talk it through, though we would rather be straight with you: there is no conservatory roof standing on the shop floor.
