Slim Frames, Big View
The aluminium frame is narrower than your finger. Closed, you see the garden, not the frame.
20mm frames

Ultimate Home Solutions supplies and fits new bi-fold doors across East Kilbride, from the original new town housing at The Murray, Westwood, Calderwood and St Leonards to the detached homes at Stewartfield, Lindsayfield, Jackton and Mossneuk. A lot of houses here still have the narrow patio door the builder put in, with a fat frame straight down the middle of the only view the room has. A bi-fold takes that frame out of the picture: the panels fold flat against one side and up to 90 per cent of the opening is left clear. The town sits high and catches the weather, so the frames are thermally broken and the track is rated Class 4 for wind and rain.
East Kilbride sits higher than Glasgow and takes more wind and more rain for it, which is exactly the test a wide glazed opening has to pass. Every panel carries brush and rubber seals, the track drains rather than ponding, and a plastic thermal break runs through the middle of each aluminium frame so the cold cannot walk straight through the metal. Shut in January, folded away in July.

20mm framesA plastic barrier inside every frame stops cold coming through the metal, with argon-filled double or triple glazing.
U-value from 1.2Fold them left, right or split. One panel works as a normal door, so you can nip out without folding the whole run back.
2 to 7 panelsBrush and rubber seals on every panel, and a drainage track that copes with driving rain, not just a calm afternoon.
Class 4 weather ratedEach panel bolts into the frame at the top and the bottom. Harder to get through than most front doors.

Flush or weatheredExcellent service and communication from Ultimate Home Solutions from start to finish. Requested a visit to discuss the supply and fitting of new front and back UPVC doors to our property. Appointment arranged very quickly and Liam arrived to discuss our options and give us background to the Company. There was no pressure from start to finish. Request to think about it overnight was welcomed and I phoned to proceed...
I was very well impressed from stat to finish with ultimate home solutions. I had Henry the sales for the double glazing and his advice was second to none and thank goodness for my windows look beautiful. The company that installed them were very professional and very clean workers. I would highly recommend this company and will use them in future for any further projects.
Did what they said they would do and on time.
Every review here was left by a customer on Google or Trustpilot and appears exactly as written.
The structural side and the doors come from the same contract, so there is no builder to chase for the lintel, and the survey covers the wall, the floor level and the panel layout in one visit. Houses from The Village to Jackton get the same service.

The online designer is for our Palladio range, the premium end of what we fit. It does not cover the other door ranges on this page. Choose a style, try it in every colour, compare the glass patterns and set the handle, the letterplate and the knocker.
Opens the Palladio door designer in a new tab. Free to use, nothing to download, and no obligation.
Someone comes out free of charge, measures the opening and the floor level, and talks through panel counts, which way the doors should stack and where the traffic door sits.
A free quote follows, setting out the panel layout, the frame colour inside and out, the glass and the threshold. There is no obligation and nobody will chase you.
Bi-fold installations usually take 1 to 2 days. The old opening is prepared, the track is levelled, the panels are hung and adjusted, and everything is sealed and tested before we leave.
We fold and unfold the doors with you, show you the locks and the maintenance, then leave the certificate and care notes. All workmanship is guaranteed.

Price, lintels, panel counts, thresholds, aluminium against uPVC and how long the job takes, set out plainly.
You get somebody who has fitted these doors on the phone, not a script. We answer seven days a week and usually come back to you within the hour.
Call 0800 029 3875Expect somewhere between £2,500 and £6,500 for the finished job. A three panel uPVC set sits at the bottom of that and a six panel aluminium run at the top. Panel count, frame material and the glazing specification drive it, and structural work is priced on its own at the survey. Various deposit options are available.
That is the most common job we do here. A standard patio opening in The Murray, Westwood or Calderwood usually takes a two or three panel bi-fold with no structural work at all, because the existing lintel already spans it. If you want the opening widened we deal with that too.
Only if the opening is new or is being made wider. Where it is, a steel lintel is normally what the wall needs. The surveyor assesses it, a structural engineer is brought in if the span calls for one, and the lintel is fitted as part of our work rather than by a separate trade. Allow an extra day on site when that is involved.
Aluminium gives the slimmest sightlines, comes in any RAL colour and carries a long run best, so we usually recommend it over about 3 metres. uPVC is cheaper, needs no upkeep and still performs well thermally. On a wide rear wall facing the wind up here, aluminium is normally the better buy.
Up to 6 metres, roughly 20 feet, on a six panel aluminium set, and wider with a bespoke configuration. The limit depends on the material, the panel count and what the wall above can carry, which is what the survey establishes.
Not in the way old patio doors are. The aluminium frames have a thermal break running through them and the units are argon filled double or triple glazing, with U-values from 1.2. Each panel seals with brush and rubber gaskets, so the draught you get round a tired sliding door is not part of it.
A flush track sits level with a patio or decking for a step free walk out. A weathered sill stands slightly proud and sheds water better where the elevation is exposed, which a fair few streets in this town are. The surveyor will tell you which one your house should have.
Yes. Our windows and doors showroom is at Braehead, inside Dobbies Garden Centre, 75 Kings Inch Drive, Renfrew, G51 4FB, and there is a second showroom in Kilmarnock at Block 5, Unit 1, Glencairn Industrial Estate, KA1 4AZ. Braehead opens 10am to 5pm seven days, Kilmarnock Monday to Saturday with Sunday by appointment. The surveyor also brings frame colours and hardware samples to the house.
Bi-fold installations usually take 1 to 2 days, and an extra day if a new lintel is going in. The house is left secure and weathertight at the end of each working day.
