Let The Carse In

Bi-fold doors for Stirling houses that already have something worth looking at.

Ultimate Home Solutions supplies and fits new bi-fold doors across Stirling, from the King's Park villas and the Riverside terraces to the bungalows at Torbrex and the newer estates at Broomridge and Chartershall. Plenty of houses here look out towards the Ochils, the Abbey Craig or the castle rock, and then hand that view to a narrow patio door with a thick white frame down the middle of it. A bi-fold folds the whole run back against one side, so the back of the house opens up properly in July and seals up tight in January. A surveyor comes out to measure and there is no charge for the journey.

Why Bi-Fold

Open up the whole wall in summer. Keep the cold out in winter.

Stirling weather comes off the carse in a hurry, so a wide glazed opening has to be more than a nice idea. These doors run on a levelled track with brush and rubber seals on every panel, the aluminium frame carries a thermal break through the middle of it, and each panel bolts into the frame top and bottom. Fold them back for the Ochils in summer, shut them and the room stays warm in February.

Five-panel bi-fold door folded fully open to a patio, almost the whole wall clear
Up to 90% of the opening is clearThe panels fold flat against one side, so nearly the whole width is open. A real opening, not a wide window.

Slim Frames, Big View

The aluminium frame is narrower than your finger. Closed, you see the garden, not the frame.

20mm frames

Warm Frame, No Cold Spots

A plastic barrier inside every frame stops cold coming through the metal, with argon-filled double or triple glazing.

Two To Seven Panels

Fold them left, right or split. One panel works as a normal door, so you can nip out without folding the whole run back.

Brush and rubber seals on every panel, and a drainage track that copes with driving rain, not just a calm afternoon.

New windows in Glasgow by Ultimate Home Solutions

“Excellent quality and fantastic customer service.”

Excellent quality and fantastic customer service. I was looking to upgrade the windows and light in my home. I cannot stress how frustrated I was with being told I couldn't do what I wanted to do. I said what I hoped for and worked with Ultimate Home Solutions to get exactly that. Great range, very affordable and the cleanest and most organised installers I've met. I would very happily recommend and would use again.

The opening judged in the room

Width, head height and floor level are checked from inside and out, because a bi-fold is only as good as the track it sits on.

FAQ

Bi-fold door questions from Stirling homeowners.

What people around the city ask first, from travel and price to lintels, thresholds, winter warmth and how wide a run can go.

Do you come out to Stirling, and is there a charge for the visit?

We cover the whole of Stirling and the Forth Valley, and nothing is added for the journey. A surveyor calls at your house, whether that is Cornton, King's Park, St Ninians or out at Plean, measures the opening and leaves a free quote with you. There is no obligation and nobody will chase you for an answer.

What do bi-fold doors cost?

Most installations land between £2,500 and £6,500. A three panel uPVC set sits at the lower end and a six panel aluminium run at the upper. Panel count, frame material and the glazing specification are what move the figure, and any structural work is priced separately at the survey. Various deposit options are available.

How wide an opening can you cover?

A six panel aluminium bi-fold will span up to 6 metres, around 20 feet. Wider is possible with a bespoke configuration. What decides it is the frame material, the number of panels and whether the wall above can carry the span, which is exactly what the surveyor is there to work out.

Our house is a stone villa near the Top of the Town. Does that complicate it?

It can. The older parts of the city and the streets below the castle sit inside conservation areas and a number of buildings there are listed, so work to the rear elevation may still need consent from Stirling Council. We will flag it at the survey rather than let you find out later. On the post-war and modern housing at Broomridge, Borestone and Chartershall there is normally nothing in the way.

Will I need a lintel put in?

If you are making a new opening or widening one you already have, yes, and it is usually a steel one. The surveyor assesses the wall and specifies it, a structural engineer is brought in where the span calls for it, and the lintel goes in as part of our work. Allow an extra day on site when structural work is involved.

Aluminium or uPVC for a house up here?

Aluminium gives the slimmest sightlines, takes any RAL colour and carries the weight of a long run best, so it is the usual answer over about 3 metres. uPVC costs less, needs nothing doing to it and still performs well on heat. For a wide rear opening catching the wind off the carse, aluminium is the one we would point you at.

Are they warm enough for a Stirling winter?

A plastic thermal break runs through the middle of every aluminium frame, so the cold cannot travel straight through the metal, and the units are argon filled double or triple glazing. U-values start from 1.2. Brush and rubber seals on each panel and a drainage track rated to Class 4 for weather deal with the wet side of it.

Can I get in and out without folding the whole lot back?

Yes. One panel is set up as a traffic door and works like any other back door, so the dog, the bins and the washing do not need the full run opened. You choose which end it sits at and which way the rest stack.

Flush threshold or a raised one?

A flush track sits level with decking or a patio and gives you a step free walk out, which suits a sheltered garden. A weathered sill stands slightly proud and sheds water better on an exposed elevation. The surveyor will tell you which your house actually needs rather than sell you the flatter one.

Can I pay for bi-fold doors monthly?

Yes. We offer Buy Now Pay 12 Months Later, flexible credit up to 24 months, and longer-term flexible credit up to 10 years. The initial eligibility check is a soft search with no impact on your credit score, and gives an instant decision. Ultimate Home Solutions is authorised by the FCA as a credit broker (not a lender).

What is covered once the doors are in?

All workmanship is guaranteed. That covers the way the track is levelled, the panels hung and adjusted and the whole run sealed, and you can phone the office seven days a week if anything needs another look.
