Solid Core, Not Hollow
A 44mm solid laminated timber core, not a hollow shell filled with foam. It shuts with a thud, not a rattle.
44mm solid core

Ultimate Home Solutions supplies and fits new composite doors across Edinburgh, from main-door flats in Leith to bungalows in Blackhall and family houses in Liberton. A surveyor travels to you with the samples, measures the opening and leaves you with a clear, no-obligation quote to follow. Each door is made to measure with a solid insulated core and a GRP skin, so an east wind off the Forth will not swell it, and trusted installers have it hung and locked within a day. All workmanship is guaranteed.
A front door in Edinburgh faces haar, salt air near the shore and a cold east wind for much of the year. Timber moves with all of that and needs paint to survive it. Composite is built to be left alone, and these are the parts that make it so.

Same-day installI loved the experience. The finished product was far beyond my expectations and the workload was quickly carried out and completed. The workers when they arrived were polite and maintained high quality standards. Further, they ensured the mess they made was cleaned up at the end of each day. Overall, I would highly recommend this service to others as the business is very professional.
Fulfilled the timescales. Excellent workmanship. Competitive prices. Excellent customer service.
Absolutely brilliant experience from start to finish. The qualities of the product were explained and demonstrated and we went ahead. We were delighted with the end product and the lads who done the job were friendly professional and approachable. We would have no hesitation in recommending this company to anyone and will do so if asked.

Most composite doors go in within a single working day. The old door and frame are removed, the new set is fitted, sealed and locked, and the waste leaves with the installers.

Most of our composite front doors come to between £950 and £2,200 fitted, with removal of the old door, disposal and certification included. The colour, the glass design, the hardware finish and any side panels decide where in that range yours falls. The survey is free and the clear quote afterwards commits you to nothing. Various deposit options are available.
It depends on the street and the building. Large parts of Edinburgh, including the New Town, the Old Town, Stockbridge and Marchmont, are conservation areas, and many buildings are listed. On a listed building, or a street-facing door in a conservation area, the council may expect the original style and sometimes the original material to be kept, so check with City of Edinburgh Council planning before you order. The surveyor will tell you honestly if a composite door is unlikely to be accepted, and the Heritage composite range is there for period frontages where it is.
Yes. Main-door tenement flats in Leith, Gorgie and Dalry, and the colony houses in Stockbridge and Abbeyhill, have a front door of their own opening onto the street or an outside stair, and both are straightforward to fit. Older openings are seldom a standard size, so the door is made from the surveyor's measurements. Where a factor or the other owners have a say over the look of the entrance, settle that first and we will supply the door details they ask for.
Each one is tested to PAS 24, the British standard for resisting a forced entry. The core is solid, which makes it far harder to break through than a hollow panel, the lock is a multi-point hook-and-bolt system with a 3-star Kitemarked cylinder, and any glass is laminated security glazing.
Yes. The GRP skin does not take in water, so the door will not swell, stick or warp the way a timber one does after a wet winter, and the colour will not fade or need repainting. The insulated core is six times more insulating than timber, which you notice in a hallway that faces an east wind.
More than 200 colours, among them anthracite grey, chartwell green, duck egg blue, cream and black, with a different colour on the inside if you want one. There are dozens of glass designs, and the hardware comes in chrome, gold, black or antique finishes. The surveyor brings samples so you can see them against your own frontage.
One working day for most doors. The installers take out the old door and frame, fit the new frame and door, add the glass and hardware, seal it and show you the locks. Your home is secure again before they leave.
Tell us at the survey and we plan for it. A door fit needs one van for one day, and in a controlled parking zone we sort out a visitor or trade permit ahead of time, so you have nothing to organise on the day.
