Doors Built For The West Highlands

Composite doors for Fort William, where the rain arrives sideways.

Ultimate Home Solutions supplies and fits new composite doors across Fort William and the PH33 villages, with the samples carried to your house and nothing charged for the journey. Few places in Britain are wetter, and the wind that drives the rain comes straight up Loch Linnhe. The houses along Achintore Road take it full in the face, the estates at Upper Achintore and Plantation sit high above the town where there is nothing to shelter them, and Caol, Lochyside and Corpach look out across open water. A painted timber door lasts two or three winters of that before the bottom rail gives up. A composite door gives the weather nothing to work with: a solid core around 44mm thick behind a moulded skin, colour running through rather than brushed on. Trusted installers fit it in a day and all workmanship is guaranteed.

Why Composite

A timber door that has never once needed painting.

Fort William measures its rainfall in metres and the wind off the loch drives it flat against the house. Paint lifts, timber drinks it in, hollow panels bow. A composite door is layered so the water simply runs away. These are the layers.

Solid Core, Not Hollow

A 44mm solid laminated timber core, not a hollow shell filled with foam. It shuts with a thud, not a rattle.

“I loved the experience.”

I loved the experience. The finished product was far beyond my expectations and the workload was quickly carried out and completed. The workers when they arrived were polite and maintained high quality standards. Further, they ensured the mess they made was cleaned up at the end of each day. Overall, I would highly recommend this service to others as the business is very professional.

The Job In Four Stages

Four stages, one of which happens at your door.

1
Step 1

We Measure Up At Home

A surveyor comes out free of charge, measures the opening and the sill, and brings colour, glass and hardware samples so you can choose at your own front door.

2
Step 2

A Clear Quote To Consider

A free, no-obligation quote follows, showing the door style, colour, glass and locks you chose. Take as long as you like over it.

3
Step 3

One Day To Fit

Most composite doors go in within a single working day. The old door and frame are removed, the new set is fitted, sealed and locked, and the waste leaves with the installers.

4
Step 4

Keys In Your Hand

You are shown the locks, then given the keys, the installation certificate and care notes, and we check in with you a few weeks later. All workmanship is guaranteed.

FAQ

Fort William composite door questions.

Travel, cost, rain and wind, exposed frontages, older property, warmth, security, colours, the fitting day and the PH33 villages.

Not what you were after?

Phone and a real person picks up, one who sets up door appointments for a living. Seven days a week, and messages rarely sit longer than an hour.

Call 0800 029 3875
Do you get up to Fort William, and is the journey charged for?

We come up, and the journey is on us. Appointments take in the town, Caol, Corpach, Banavie, Inverlochy and the villages out along the glens, with no call-out fee and no mileage charge. The quote afterwards is free and commits you to nothing.

What would a composite door cost here?

The same range as everywhere else, £950 to £2,200 fitted, which includes taking out the old door, disposing of it and the certification. The colour, the glass, the hardware and any side panels decide where inside that yours lands. Various deposit options are available.

We get more rain than almost anywhere. Will it really stand it?

That is the case for composite in the first place. The moulded skin absorbs nothing at all, so the door cannot swell, warp or rot, and there is no paint to blister. Weather seals run round the frame and the multi-point lock draws the door onto them along its full height.

The wind comes straight up the loch at us. Is that an issue?

Not for a door with this much weight in it. A hollow panel can flex in a strong gust, where a solid core does not. On a badly exposed doorway the surveyor specifies the threshold and the seals accordingly, and that is noted at the visit rather than left to chance.

Ours is an older house with a deep stone opening. Can that be done?

Yes. Older property around the town and out towards Banavie and Annat has deep reveals, thick walls and openings that were never a standard size. Every frame is built to the figures taken on the day, so it fits the stone rather than being packed out to suit.

Would it make the hall any warmer?

It should. A composite door is six times more insulating than timber and the core is insulated right through, where an old door is either solid wood or hollow. Close the seals properly round the frame and the draught that runs along the hall floor in winter disappears.

How secure is one?

Tested to PAS 24, the British standard for resisting forced entry, on every door we fit. The locking is multi-point with hooks and bolts, the cylinder is 3-star Kitemarked and anti-snap, and glass panels are laminated so they hold together under a blow.

What choice is there on colour?

You are choosing from over 200 colour and glass options. Greys, blacks and creams are the common picks, heritage greens and blues suit older stone, and the woodgrain finishes give the timber look without the maintenance. The inside can be a different colour, and hardware comes in chrome, gold, matt black or antique.

How long does the fitting take?

One working day. The old door and frame are removed, the new frame is set and sealed, the door is hung, the glass and hardware are fitted, and you are shown how the locking works before the installers leave with the old door.

Could the cost be split into monthly payments?

Yes. We offer Buy Now Pay 12 Months Later, flexible credit up to 24 months, and longer-term flexible credit up to 10 years. The initial eligibility check is a soft search with no impact on your credit score, and gives an instant decision. Ultimate Home Solutions is authorised by the FCA as a credit broker (not a lender).

Which places around Lochaber do you reach?

All of PH33 and the area round it: the town centre, An Aird, Inverlochy, Claggan, Upper Achintore, Plantation, Lundavra, Achintore Road, Blar Mhor, Lochyside, Caol, Camaghael, Banavie, Corpach, Torlundy and Annat, then Spean Bridge, Roy Bridge, Onich, North Ballachulish, Ballachulish, Glencoe and Kinlochleven. Nothing is added to the price for the journey to any of them.
