Can we see doors somewhere before deciding?

Can you do a close door, or just our own?
Both. A flat's own door is straightforward. A shared close door needs the owners or the factor to settle the specification and the date between them, and we supply whatever information they want. Any fire rating or door closer that applies is checked at the survey.
Our house is in the Kilbarchan conservation area. Does that matter?
It can. Kilbarchan has a conservation area covering much of the old village, with listed buildings inside it, so Renfrewshire Council may take an interest in a door that faces the street. Rear doors seldom come into it. The surveyor will tell you how it looks, and the Heritage composite range is drawn for frontages of that age.
Is it really more secure than a uPVC door?
Yes, and mainly because of the core. Solid material resists a determined attack in a way a hollow chambered panel does not. Add multi-point locking with hooks and bolts, a 3-star Kitemarked anti-snap cylinder and laminated glazing, and the door meets PAS 24 as a whole.
Will it keep the heat in better?
It should. The core is insulated and six times more insulating than timber, U-values start at 1.0, and the frame is sealed as it is fitted, so the draught round the old one goes with it.
How many colours are there really?
Past 200 once the glass designs are counted. Anthracite grey, black, cream, chartwell green and duck egg blue lead the way, woodgrain finishes give the timber look, and you can have a different colour facing the hall from the one facing the street. Chrome, gold, black and antique are the handle finishes.
What actually happens on the day?
The fit takes one working day. The installers lift out the old door and frame, set and seal the new frame, hang the door, add the glass and hardware and run you through the locking. Your house is secure again before they go.
Is finance an option?
