Why Palladio
Most composite doors copy timber. Palladio is moulded from it.
Perth frontages are looked at closely, which is exactly the test a printed door skin fails. Palladio panels carry real shadow because the mould was taken from a timber original, the 65mm shell is pressed as one reinforced piece with a dense core behind it, and two weather seals plus triple glazing keep the Tay valley damp out of the hall. There is no repainting, no staining and nothing to do to it each spring.

What does a Palladio door come to?
That depends entirely on the doorway it has to fill. Design, colour, glass and any side panels or fanlight glazing all move the figure, so the number arrives after a free survey rather than before it. Our terrace is listed and faces the North Inch. Can we change the door?
Very possibly not for a modern replacement. Much of central Perth lies within a conservation area and the Georgian terraces around the Inches include a great many listed buildings, where Perth and Kinross Council can require a timber door in the original pattern. We will tell you honestly at the survey if we think consent will be difficult. Away from those streets, on the villas at Kinnoull and Barnhill and the housing at Letham, Tulloch and Viewlands, it is usually straightforward.
What actually makes Palladio different?
It is one piece. The door is a 65mm monocoque, a single fibreglass-reinforced shell filled with a dense insulating core, rather than a core with a thin skin glued on each face. The grain is moulded from real timber, the frame is foiled in the door colour instead of left white, there are two weather seals instead of one, and triple glazing is included as standard.
Will it warm up a cold hall?
It should. The core insulates rather than holding air, the glazed units are triple glazed with a warm-edge spacer and an argon fill, and the two seals stop the draught that works round the edge of an older door. You notice it first on a frosty morning.
Can it be made for a tall Victorian opening?
Yes. Every Palladio is built to the sizes taken at the survey, and side panels and top lights are made with glass that matches the door, so a generous original doorway is not reduced to a standard rectangle with infill panels round it.
What does the locking consist of?
The doors are tested to PAS 24. Each one has a Milenco 10-point locking system and a 3-star cylinder, and hangs on four adjustable hinges concealed inside the edge of the door so they cannot be reached from outside.
How long do I wait?
Palladio doors are made to order in Ireland and 4 to 6 weeks from order to delivery is typical. The fitting itself is one working day, and the house is locked and weathertight before the installers head off.
Which villages around Perth do you cover?
Scone, Bridge of Earn, Almondbank, Methven, Luncarty, Stanley, Abernethy, Errol and Glencarse, along with every PH1 and PH2 address in the city. The survey is free at all of them and travel is never charged.
