The panel and the frame have nothing in them that salt can work on, so they are unaffected. Exposed hardware does more work near the water, so tell the surveyor how open the doorway is and the handle and letterplate finishes will be chosen with that in mind.

Yes. The upper and lower homes each have their own door, and either can be replaced on its own. Openings in these blocks are often slightly out of square after seventy years, which is why the door is made from the surveyor's measurements rather than bought to a standard size.

A woodgrain foil rather than a flat colour, usually golden oak or rosewood, with leaded or bevelled glass in the panel. It reads as painted timber from the gate but never needs rubbed down. Where a heavier traditional look is wanted, we supply composite and Palladio doors as well, so the advice at survey is honest either way.

We do. Back, side and utility doors are daily work, and sliding patio doors and French doors are part of the range too. Ask for them all to be priced at the survey and decide afterwards.

One working day. The old door and frame come out, the new frame goes in plumb and is packed and screwed, the panel is hung, the glass and hardware are fitted and everything is sealed and tested before the fitters leave.

Multi-point locking is standard, so hooks and bolts grip the frame at several heights rather than everything hanging on one latch. A high-security cylinder goes with it, and the glazing is toughened or laminated. You can work the mechanism yourself at the Kilmarnock showroom.
