How much does a uPVC door cost in Edinburgh?
It is the lowest up-front price of any front door we fit, and well under a composite door. What moves the figure is the size of the opening, side panels or a top light, the glass design and the hardware. After the free survey you get a clear quote, with no obligation. Various deposit options are available.
How long does fitting take, and how long before you can come?
Fitting takes one working day: old door out, new frame and panel in, glass and hardware fitted, sealed and made secure before the fitter leaves. The door is made to your measurements after the survey, usually a few weeks, and we confirm the fitting date when you place the order.
My flat is in the New Town. Can I change the front door?
Internal flat doors and back doors are rarely a problem. For a street-facing door on a listed New Town or Old Town building the council may want the style to match the frontage, and some conservation streets restrict uPVC on the front elevation. We tell you straight at the survey, and if a composite or timber-look door is the right answer we supply those too.
Can you replace a tenement stair door?
Yes. Shared stair doors in Marchmont, Bruntsfield, Leith and Gorgie tenements are regular jobs. Where the door is communal we can talk to the factor or the other owners about the spec and the date, and fire-rated and closer requirements are checked at survey.
Where do your fitters park? My street is permit only.
We arrange it. For controlled parking zones we sort trade permits or visitor parking with the council in advance and plan the one delivery around them. Parking has never held up a door fitting in Edinburgh.
How secure is a uPVC door?
Every uPVC door we fit has a multi-point locking system as standard, hooks and bolts engaging at several points up the frame, paired with a high-security cylinder and toughened or laminated glass where there is glazing. The surveyor shows you the mechanism on the sample.
What colours and glass are available?
The range covers white, cream and black, anthracite grey and woodgrain foils like golden oak and rosewood, and the inside can be a different colour from the outside. Glazing runs from clear and obscure to leaded, bevelled and stained, with chrome, gold, black or graphite hardware. The surveyor brings the swatches through with them.
Can I finance a new door? How does the credit check work?
