The engineer checks three things: whether the boiler is the right size for the rooms, whether the radiators are big enough and free of sludge, and whether the system is balanced so the far end of the house gets its share. If the fix is a couple of radiators rather than a new boiler, we will tell you that.

It can, and the honest answer comes from the building rather than the postcode. A heat pump wants good insulation, radiators sized for lower water temperatures and somewhere outside for the unit, so a newer house at Lindsayfield or Jackton is a better candidate than a draughty older terrace. The engineer carries out a heat loss survey first, and we confirm what grant funding applies to your address when we quote.

Braehead opens 10am to 5pm Monday to Sunday and Kilmarnock Monday to Saturday, Sunday by appointment, with parking outside. You are welcome to call in about heating, but the survey has to be at your own house.
