To the Glasgow showroom inside Dobbies Garden Centre at Braehead, 75 Kings Inch Drive, Renfrew, G51 4FB. From Cumbernauld it is the M80 down to the M8 and west. It is open 10am to 5pm every day of the week, there is no appointment needed and parking costs nothing. The Kilmarnock showroom keeps the same hours if that suits you better.
Expect from £6,000 for a small galley refit, £8,000 to £15,000 for a mid-range family kitchen and from £20,000 for a large open-plan room with an island. Each figure covers removing the old kitchen along with the plumbing, the electrics and the worktops. What moves yours is the size of the room and the worktop and appliances you settle on, and the quote is free and clear.
The installers are with you for 10 to 14 working days. Before it, design and planning takes about two weeks and manufacture four to six weeks from the moment you approve the plan. Most households here are cooking in the new room eight to ten weeks after the designer first called.
Not at all, it just needs measuring properly. Split-level houses across Seafar and Kildrum put the kitchen on its own half-landing, often with a short run of steps and a turn at the top. The designer notes the tread depth, the turn and the doorway width at the survey so the units and appliances chosen will physically get up there without a struggle.
It is where it pays off most. Built-to-measure cabinets run wall to wall with no filler panels swallowing space, a tall pull-out larder holds a startling amount in a narrow gap, deep drawers beat cupboards for getting at pans, and slimline integrated appliances clear the worktop. The 3D model shows you exactly how much you gain before anything is ordered.
Often, yes. Plenty of Cumbernauld houses have a serving hatch or a stud wall between the two, and taking it out turns a cramped galley into a proper kitchen-diner. Where the wall is carrying load we bring in a structural engineer and handle the building warrant, and the designer draws both versions so you can compare them side by side.
We do, all of it. Gas Safe registered engineers handle the gas and qualified electricians do the wiring, with certificates issued for each. Plumbing, tiling and decoration are booked as part of the same job, and it finishes with a walkthrough so you can pick over the detail.
