Most modern handleless kitchens fall between £9,000 and £28,000, fully fitted including rip-out, plumbing, electrics and worktops. A compact galley refit in a handleless finish starts around £9,000, while a large open-plan island kitchen with premium quartz and integrated appliances can reach £35,000+. What's the difference between handleless and standard doors?
Standard kitchen doors have a visible handle (knob, bar, or cup pull) fixed to the front. Handleless kitchens use one of three mechanisms instead: a J-pull rail routed into the top edge of the door, a push-to-open mechanical latch behind the door, or a true handleless channel (a recessed aluminium profile between the door and the unit above). The result is a completely smooth, uninterrupted facade.
Are handleless kitchens harder to keep clean?
No. In fact, they are easier. There are fewer crevices, no handle fixings to collect grease, and the flat slab doors wipe down in seconds. J-pull rails can collect crumbs, but a quick wipe along the channel takes care of it. Push-to-open doors are the cleanest option of all since there is no rail or groove at all.
Can I mix modern and traditional elements?
Absolutely. Many of our customers pair a handleless run of wall and base units with a Shaker island, or combine timber open shelving with super-matt slab doors. Mixing materials and styles is one of the best ways to create a kitchen with real character. Your designer will show you combinations that work.
What worktop materials work best with a modern kitchen?
Quartz is the most popular choice for modern kitchens: durable, low-maintenance, and available in ultra-thin 12mm profiles for a sleek edge. Dekton is virtually indestructible and comes in large-format slabs with minimal joins. Other options include large-format porcelain and high-quality concrete-effect laminate for tighter budgets. Your designer will bring samples to compare side by side.
