GRP vs EPDM: which is better for my flat roof?
GRP fibreglass is the best choice for smaller, more complex roofs (extensions, dormers, porches) because it cures as a seamless, rigid shell with no joints. EPDM rubber is ideal for larger, simpler areas (garages, large extensions) because it comes in a single sheet up to 15m wide. Both are excellent in Scottish weather. Our surveyor will recommend the best system for your specific roof.
How long does a flat roof last?
GRP fibreglass flat roofs carry a 30 to 40 year typical lifespan and need minimal maintenance. EPDM rubber has a proven lifespan of 25 to 30+ years. Both far outlast traditional felt, which often fails within 10 years in Scottish conditions.
Can I insulate the flat roof at the same time?
Yes, and it is the most cost-effective time to do it. We can add rigid insulation boards above or below the deck to meet current Building Regulations. This improves thermal performance, reduces condensation risk, and can significantly lower your heating bills.
How long does a flat roof installation take?
