That is easily worked around. Indoor detectors are pet-friendly, which is there to stop false triggers, and the wireless outdoor sensor ignores animals up to 24kg. Tell the engineer which rooms the dog has the run of and the detectors go in accordingly.

Where a house is empty for long stretches, the system can instead report to an alarm receiving centre staffed 24/7, and your keyholders or a response service are called the moment it trips.
