Ultimate Home Solutions designs, supplies and fits new house alarms, cameras and video doorbells for homes in Kelso and the Border villages around it. The town centre is stone-built and tightly packed, with Georgian and Victorian frontages on and around The Square and rear access often limited to a pend, while a mile or two out at Sprouston, Ednam, Heiton, Stichill or Morebattle a house can sit on its own with steadings, a yard and a long approach. A wireless panel suits both, because nothing has to be threaded through thick stone, and everything reports to a phone whether you are upstairs or three counties away.
Kelso homes want different things. A town house on Bridge Street may be well served by the alarm and a doorbell answered on the phone, while a farmhouse out towards Smailholm with a yard, a steading and a long approach usually wants outdoor detection and cameras covering the way in. Each part is explained below so you can keep the list to what the place needs.
[ Intruder alarms ]Built on the PSI award-winning Pyronix Enforcer V11, with door, window and motion sensors that are pet-friendly to avoid false triggers. Choose bells-only, or upgrade to 24/7 professional monitoring so a response is triggered even when you're away.
[ HD CCTV ]Sharp day-and-night cameras with motion recording you can view live from your phone, anywhere. Footage is stored locally or in the cloud, ready if you ever need it.
[ Video doorbells ]See and speak to whoever's at the door from your phone, whether you're upstairs or out of the country. A simple upgrade that catches deliveries and deters chancers.
[ Monitored response ]For full peace of mind, link your system to a 24/7 alarm receiving centre. If it's triggered, keyholders or a response service are alerted straight away, day or night.
Fulfilled the timescales. Excellent workmanship. Competitive prices. Excellent customer service.
Absolutely brilliant experience from start to finish. The qualities of the product were explained and demonstrated and we went ahead. We were delighted with the end product and the lads who done the job were friendly professional and approachable. We would have no hesitation in recommending this company to anyone and will do so if asked.
I loved the experience. The finished product was far beyond my expectations and the workload was quickly carried out and completed. The workers when they arrived were polite and maintained high quality standards. Further, they ensured the mess they made was cleaned up at the end of each day. Overall, I would highly recommend this service to others as the business is very professional.

What Border homeowners ask before ordering: travel, stone walls, isolated houses, outbuildings, cameras at night, pets, footage, timescales and paying monthly.
Ask an awkward question and you will get a straight answer, because the phone is picked up by the people who fit the systems. Calls are usually returned the same day.
Call 0800 029 3875We do, and Kelso is part of the round along with Sprouston, Ednam, Stichill, Smailholm, Roxburgh, Heiton, Eckford, Morebattle and the Yetholms. Nothing is added to the price for the journey, there is no call-out fee, and the quote that follows the visit costs you nothing and commits you to nothing.
Very little. The panel, keypad, door contacts, movement detectors and the outside siren all talk to each other wirelessly, with a 300m transmission range on the external siren, so nothing is pulled from room to room. Cameras are the one exception, because they need power and data by cable, and the engineer works those routes out with you while at the house.
It affects where boxes and cameras are put rather than whether you can have them. The siren and any cameras are sited to be effective without dominating the frontage, and the engineer will suggest positions on a gable, under an eave or at the rear where that works better. If you are in any doubt about consents on a listed property, check with Scottish Borders Council before we fix anything.
On its own, less than it would be in a street, which is why an isolated house usually pairs the siren with alerts to your phone and, for many households, monitoring. Linked to an alarm receiving centre staffed 24/7, a trigger means your keyholders or a response service are contacted immediately, whether or not anybody was near enough to hear it.
Yes. A camera can look along the approach and across the yard, and cable runs out to an outbuilding are measured at the survey and priced in. For detection, the wireless outdoor sensor reads 12m across a 90 degree arc and is pet immune up to 24kg, which suits a gate or a yard entrance.
Darkness is what they are designed around. The cameras we fit hold full colour after dark instead of switching to grey infrared, and colour is what makes a description of clothing or a vehicle usable. Recording is triggered by movement, and alerts can be set to people and vehicles rather than every deer or fox.
No difficulty. Indoor detectors are pet-friendly, which is there to keep false triggers down, and the outdoor sensor ignores animals up to 24kg. Tell the engineer which rooms the animals use and the detectors are placed accordingly.
On a recorder inside the house, holding roughly 30 to 60 days on a loop depending on how many cameras feed it. There is no monthly charge for recording locally or for the app, and encrypted cloud backup can be added for a small monthly cost if you want a copy held elsewhere.
Allow roughly 2 to 4 weeks between signing off the design and the fitting day while the equipment is ordered and a date agreed. At the property, the work normally runs to 1 to 2 working days. The system is tested and the app is running before the van leaves.
