“Very good job done on our home.”
Very good job done on our home. Exterior wall coating by Properla applied by excellent applicators. Can strongly recommend on every aspect.

Ultimate Home Solutions supplies and fits new exterior wall coatings across Kilmarnock, and the town is one of the two places the coating crews work out of. A great many local homes are roughcast: the terraces and semis of Shortlees, Bellfield and Onthank, the older houses around Riccarton, and the villages out towards Hurlford and Crosshouse. Ayrshire weather comes in off the Firth of Clyde, and after a few decades that roughcast is stained, cracked at the corners and holding water. A surveyor checks each wall, and trusted applicators clean it, mend it and coat it in a finish that throws the rain off.
Ayrshire roughcast takes the weather side-on, and a coat of masonry paint only hides the problem for a while. A breathable coating such as ProPerla keeps the rain out of the wall and lets the damp already inside it escape, whether the house is a semi in Bellfield or a cottage in Fenwick.
[ Breathable, not sealed ]The coating lets water vapour escape from inside the wall, so trapped damp dries out instead of blowing the render off. Microporous, just like the wall wants to be.
[ Hydrophobic finish ]Rain beads up and runs straight off rather than soaking in. A dry wall is a warmer wall, and it stops the freeze-thaw cracking that wrecks Scottish render.
[ A warmer home ]A wet wall loses far more heat than a dry one. Keeping rainwater out of the masonry cuts heat loss through the walls and helps take the edge off your energy bills.
[ Self-cleaning ]Dirt, algae and the green film that creeps up north-facing walls can't grip the surface, so the rain washes them away. The wall stays looking freshly done for years.
[ Any colour, fade-resistant ]Choose from the full RAL range. The pigment is locked into the coating so it holds its colour through UV and weathering, and all workmanship is guaranteed.
[ Surfaces we coat ]Pebbledash, roughcast, smooth and textured render, brick and stone. We power-wash, repair cracks and re-point first, so the coating goes onto a sound surface.

The things Kilmarnock homeowners ask us most, from price and timescales to cracked roughcast, damp patches, colours and where to find us in the town.
Call and you reach a person who understands walls and weather, never a phone menu. We answer all week and return most messages inside an hour.
Call 0800 029 3875At Block 5, Unit 1, Glencairn Industrial Estate, KA1 4AZ, and the doors are open from 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, with Sunday by appointment. It is the place to collect colour samples, ask questions and book a survey in person. The coating itself can only be judged on your own walls, which is why the survey is always done at the house.
A typical full-house coating is between £3,500 and £8,500 applied, including scaffolding, the power-wash, repairs to the wall, primer, base coat and top coat. Bigger detached properties can reach £14,000 or more. You get a clear quote after the free survey, there is no obligation to go ahead, and various deposit options are available.
Usually, yes, once it has been put right. We power-wash the walls, repair the cracks and re-point where it is needed, so the coating is going onto a sound surface. If the roughcast has failed badly, the surveyor may advise stripping and re-rendering that area first, and will show you why on the wall itself.
Most houses are done in 3 to 7 working days, weather permitting, and in Ayrshire the weather does get a vote. Washing and repairs come first, then the primer and the coats over the days that follow. The work is sealed at the end of each day.
If the damp comes from rain soaking through the outside wall, a hydrophobic coating typically cures it, because the water can no longer get in. Rising damp and condensation are different problems, and a coating helps with those but is not a complete fix. The surveyor finds the cause before recommending anything, and says so honestly if a coating is the wrong answer.
Not the way a painted wall does. The colour is locked into the coating and holds up to sun and weather, and because dirt and algae find it hard to cling to the surface, rain does most of the cleaning for you. Your care notes at handover explain the little that is needed to keep it looking fresh.
The whole RAL range, so you are not limited to white and cream. The surveyor brings samples with them, and if you ask, a small test area can be applied to your wall before you commit to a colour.

Yes. Brick and stone are both fine, as are pebbledash, roughcast and smooth or textured render. Each surface is prepared differently, so the surveyor looks closely at what your walls are made of and what condition they are in before the quote is put together.
