Windows On The Angus Coast

New windows for Carnoustie houses, from the stone villas by the links to the bungalows at Westhaven.

Ultimate Home Solutions supplies and fits new double glazed windows across Carnoustie and the DD7 villages, in uPVC and timber-effect frames, and it all starts with a free survey at your own house. A mile of this town faces open water. Sash windows in the older villas along Links Parade and Golf Street take salt, sand and an easterly straight off the sea, the terraces on Dundee Street and Ferrier Street get the same wind funnelled between them, and the bungalows at Westhaven sit right down on the shore. Further back, the newer houses at Carlogie, Balmachie and Upper Victoria are mostly dealing with sealed units that have clouded over. Vetted installers fit every frame and all workmanship is guaranteed.

New windows in Glasgow by Ultimate Home Solutions

“Excellent quality and fantastic customer service.”

Excellent quality and fantastic customer service. I was looking to upgrade the windows and light in my home. I cannot stress how frustrated I was with being told I couldn't do what I wanted to do. I said what I hoped for and worked with Ultimate Home Solutions to get exactly that. Great range, very affordable and the cleanest and most organised installers I've met. I would very happily recommend and would use again.

Do you cover Carnoustie and the villages nearby?

Yes. All of DD7 is covered, from the town centre and the streets by the links out to Carlogie, Balmachie, Pitskelly, Newton and Upper Victoria, and on to Panbride, East Haven, Barry and Muirdrum. A surveyor comes to the house, the visit and the travel cost nothing, and the quote that follows is yours to accept or ignore.

What does new double glazing cost in Carnoustie?

It depends on how many openings you are replacing, which styles you want, the frame finish and the glass. A seafront bungalow with five windows is not the same job as a villa with sashes on two floors. The survey is free, the quote is clear and there is no obligation attached. Various deposit options are available.

We are a few hundred yards from the beach. What does salt do to windows?

It is hard on anything painted and hard on anything that corrodes. uPVC has no paint film to lift and nothing in it to rot, so a salt-laden wind does not shorten its life, and a timber-effect finish gives you the appearance of wood without the annual repaint. The glass itself is unaffected, though you will wash it more often than folk living inland.

The east wind comes straight at the front of our house. Can rain be stopped getting in?

That is largely down to how the window is fitted. The frame is packed and sealed into the opening, drainage channels in the frame are kept clear, and the outside joint is sealed against the stone or render. Old windows usually leak because the gaskets have hardened and the drainage has blocked, not because the glass is at fault.

Can the sash windows in an older villa near the links be replaced like for like?

They can. Sliding sash windows keep the vertical opening and the proportions of the frontage, and astragal bars can be matched to the pattern already there. If the house is listed or lies within a conservation area, check with Angus Council before ordering and we will supply whatever product details they want to see.

Our bedroom glass streams with water on cold mornings. Will new windows fix it?

They usually cut it right back. Condensation gathers on the coldest surface in the room, and on an old unit that is the metal spacer round the edge of the glass. A warm-edge spacer, a Low-E coating and argon between the panes keep the inner surface warmer, so much less water forms. Trickle vents are fitted where the regulations call for them to let damp air out.

We let the house out during the golf season. Can the work be timed around that?

Yes. The fitting date is agreed with you rather than set for you, so owners who let out property here normally choose a gap between bookings. Most houses are complete within 1 to 3 working days, floors and furniture are covered while the fitters are in, and nothing is left open overnight.

The railway runs through the middle of the town. Does that show up indoors?

It can, particularly in a front bedroom. New sealed units with sound gaskets cut a lot of it on their own, and where a room needs more, acoustic glass uses thicker laminated panes to reduce what comes through. It is usually worth specifying for the affected room rather than the whole house.

Can the windows be paid for in instalments?

Yes. We offer Buy Now Pay 12 Months Later, flexible credit up to 24 months, and longer-term flexible credit up to 10 years. The initial eligibility check is a soft search with no impact on your credit score, and gives an instant decision. Ultimate Home Solutions is authorised by the FCA as a credit broker (not a lender).

How long is the wait from survey to fitting?

Roughly 5 to 7 weeks between signing the order off and the fitters arriving, because every frame is made to your measurements. The fitting is the quick part at 1 to 3 working days for most houses, and the old frames and glass are taken away with them.

Which parts of DD7 do you work in?

All of DD7: the town centre, High Street, Dundee Street, Links Parade, Golf Street, Ferrier Street, Terrace Road, Park Avenue, Kinloch Street, Maule Street, Queen Street, Philip Street, Barry Road, Westhaven, Burnside, Carlogie, Balmachie, Pitskelly, Newton and Upper Victoria, together with Panbride, East Haven, Barry and Muirdrum.

Areas We Cover

Carnoustie and the coast, Westhaven along to East Haven.

Surveys are free at every address named, with nothing charged for the journey, whether the house is by the links, up at Carlogie or out at Muirdrum. Vetted installers handle the fitting.
